Policy Events (Dec 14 - Dec 20)
Europe, the MENA region, Euro-India relations and Biden's policy toward Ireland and the UK are just some of the topics under discussion at think tank events next week.
Each week Policy People puts together a list of think tank events from around the globe. Below is our list for December 14 to December 20. The MENA region features prominently in events next week, as does Europe and European ties with India. As has been the trend recently, there are more panel discussions on Biden’s foreign policy, this time on transatlantic ties with Ireland and the UK. There is also the launch of a thrilling new book on Pakistani society, The Nine Lives of Pakistan, by New York Times journalist Declan Walsh, who covered the country until he was deported in 2013.

URBAN INSTITUTE - Tuesday, December 15 @ 3:30pm Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5)
Policy Strategies to Build a More Inclusive Economy with Cooperatives
Join the Urban Institute to explore how policymakers can help cooperatives build healthy, equitable, and sustainable communities. Cooperatives address significant market failures, from bringing electricity to rural America to accessing financing and credit services for people with low incomes, offering an inclusive model of employment and business ownership. But cooperatives can be obstructed by federal, state, and local policy. More is needed to level the playing field and incentivize cooperatives to reach underserved communities. Speakers will discuss guiding goals and specific policy objectives to advance this work.

Finally, Georgia, which avoided the first wave entirely, now sees an explosive acceleration of infections.
