THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION - Tuesday, March 9 @ 12pm Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5)
A First Look at Biden’s Energy and Climate Policies
President Biden hit the ground running with a slew of executive actions on energy and climate change, from banning new oil and gas lease sales on federal lands to re-entering the Paris climate agreement and cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline. The new administration has visions of fully decarbonizing the power sector by 2035 and making a massive, government-led push to move America’s transportation system to electric power. These goals are lofty, but what does this agenda mean for everyday Americans? How will new policies affect states where the federal government owns much of the land? What will these decisions mean for energy prices, the economy, and our environment? Join us as we discuss these critical issues and offer proactive, market-oriented policy reforms that could benefit America environment and economy.

CENTRE FOR STRATEGIC AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES - Tuesday, March 9 @ 3pm Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5)
A Conversation with Dr. Anthony Fauci and Professor Paul Kelly
The proliferation of variants threatens to curtail vaccine efficacy and generate an endemic, recurrent pandemic. Prospects for reaching a single pivot moment, in which herd immunity is achieved and public health controls are loosened, appear to have faded. Panelists will consider how to communicate this complicated set of new realities to a weary public, as well as the most promising areas of health security collaboration between the US and Australia. Join us for a discussion with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and Professor Paul Kelly, Chief Medical Officer at the Australian Government’s Department of Health, to discuss how the Australian and US governments are recalibrating their public health strategies in response to SARS-CoV-2 variants, which have fundamentally changed the trajectory of the pandemic.

Macrotrends to Watch in 2021
One year into the pandemic, COVID-19 continues to reshape our world. But the course of the virus is hardly the only variable to watch in this era of shifting world order, massive environmental challenges, and the remaking of societies around technology. What drivers and indicators should we keep an eye on? And how are global macrotrends interacting with one another in new and sometimes unexpected ways? The Risk and Foresight Group welcomes Erin Simpson, Director of Strategy Development and Deployment, Space Systems, at Northrop Grumman; Haim Israel, Managing Director of Research at Bank of America; and Nate Schenkkan, Director of Research Strategy at Freedom House for a broad discussion on the macrotrends that will play an outsized role in shaping 2021 and beyond.

ASIA SOCIETY POLICY INSTITUTE - Wednesday, March 10 @ 7pm Central Standard Time (UTC-6)
The Road Ahead for US–China Relations
A new phase of US–China relations is underway. Both countries have shown a desire to reset relations with a new administration in Washington, D.C. In a January 21 webcast address, Bush China Foundation president and CEO David Firestein called for confidence-building measures from both sides, as well as for a more objective, businesslike, and fact-based approach that would focus on the issues and how to solve problems. The subjects of contention are complex and extensive, spanning trade, technology, security, global health and human rights. Firestein returns to Asia Society Texas Center for a virtual town hall, where participants are invited to ask him their own questions about one of the world's most important relationships.

EUROPEAN INSTITUTE FOR ASIAN STUDIES - Wednesday, March 10 @ 9am Eastern Standard Time (UTC-5)
EU-Taiwan Supply Chains Forum
The importance of like-minded partners in establishing resilient and diversified global supply chains has been critically highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The European Commission is pursuing the European Green Deal and the Digital Agenda, while simultaneously strengthening the security of its supply chains so as to ensure the EU’s strategic autonomy. This creates huge opportunities for supply chain cooperation between Taiwan and the EU and for strengthening the security of European supply chains. Taiwan, with its advanced position in sectors such as ICT, electronics, semiconductors, biotechnology, renewable energy and machine tools manufacturing, has long played a key role in the global supply chain. The European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) and the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association Taiwan (CIECA) are organizing this online forum to serve as a platform for Taiwanese and European entrepreneurs and businesses to enhance mutual supply chain cooperation and to boost investment, trade and technology exchanges between the industries of Taiwan and the EU.
