Policy Opportunities (Jan 15, 2021)
Health policy roles, program associate openings in India and geopolitics-focused internships are among the opportunities at think tanks this week.
Welcome to this week’s Policy Opportunities update. There are a number of new health policy related positions this week. There are also a high number of program associate roles in South Asia, some which can be done remotely. There are internships focused on Southeast Asia policy and global geopolitics too. As per usual, several tanks are advertising more than one vacancy, so make sure to search the site thoroughly and apply to all positions of interest. Even if you already have a position, it is always good to keep up to speed with what is on offer in the policy space!

Program Assistant, Development Operations
The Atlantic Council seeks an inquisitive, nonprofit development professional to help drive the development operations work of an expanding fundraising operation supporting global policy programs. The assistant will also work with programs/centers at the Council, assisting with database training and collaborating with program staff on incoming contributions. Data Scientist
One of Europe’s leading economics tanks is looking for a Data Scientist to analyse, manage and translate scientific data into analytical outputs, including data visualisations. They will be manage data, conduct statistical analysis, automate processes using machine learning techniques, build, improve and extend our current in-house systems and features. Bruegel publishes several datasets that require regular updating, which the Data Scientist would oversee. They will use cutting-edge methods to understand economic phenomena and translate research into policy messaging. Depending on profile, qualification and contribution, the Data Scientist would also co-author publications of relevant work.

THE KIEL INSTITUTE FOR THE WORLD ECONOMY - KIEL, GERMANY
Junior Researcher (PhD student) in Economics and Global Health
The Kiel Institute seeks a Junior Researcher to join their global health research group, which is currently expanding its scope with a focus on chronic diseases, health inequalities and digital health services and is building new interdisciplinary and international research alliances with leading health economists and medical researchers. The research will make use of large datasets to test and calibrate empirical models with the aim to develop evidence-based policy advice for national and international decision makers in health policy and healthcare management. Excellent quantitative analytical and statistical as well as communication skills are required. Interest and experience in empirical applications of economic theory as well as experience with the analysis of large health data sets are desirable.
