Research Assistant, International Program
The nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute seeks to improve immigration and integration policies through the development of new ideas to address complex policy questions. MPI are looking for an integral team member to improve understanding of migration, thus supporting evidence-based and effective policymaking that works for all elements of society. The Conflict Research Unit is a specialised team within the Clingendael Institute, conducting applied, policy-oriented research and developing practical tools that assist national and multilateral governmental and non-governmental organisations in their efforts to develop and implement more effective policies and programming on stability, development and rule of law in fragile and conflict-affected countries. The Clingendael Conflict Research Unit has an opening for an Intern for the team working on militancy and political orders in the Levant, from 1 February 2021 - 31 July 2021. This internship focuses on the political economy of conflict across the Middle East with particular attention to the role of armed groups, regional power competition and transnational elements. Most of the program’s work is on Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and the Palestinian/Kurdish questions in the context of Saudi, Iranian and Turkish foreign policy.
