Senior Federal Policy and Advocacy Analyst/Advisor - Higher Ed
New America’s Education Policy Program seeks a senior federal policy and advocacy advisor for our higher education program with a strong interest and background in federal higher education policy and advocacy. This person will support the implementation of policy and advocacy strategies designed to advance the higher education program’s policy priorities and vision through legislative, regulatory, and sub-regulatory work with government agencies, lawmakers, and in partnership with other organizations. They will effectively communicate ideas to policymakers, educators, the media, and other key audiences, including through meeting with individual policymakers, building coalitions, writing compelling policy documents, and helping plan targeted and public events.

The status of women and girls around the world has significant consequences for economic prosperity, political stability, human rights, democracy, and other vital U.S. foreign policy objectives. The selected candidate will be expected to conduct original research and writing on these major issues. The major responsibilities of this position will include writing books, articles, and op-eds, organizing roundtables, study groups, and workshops at CFR on issues affecting women and gender equality, and identifying possible policy responses. They’ll interact with CFR’s distinguished membership and participating in CFR programs and activities.

This is an exciting new senior post initially for two years. Interested in spending a term working at CPG? You will work on a research project which we endeavor to base on your capabilities, preferences, and the skills needed for the work. They may preparing research briefings, including compiling and highlighting articles on multiple subjects, uncovering fresh angles and points of interest. They’ll prepare and conduct interviews and surveys. Internships may vary in length, but should last at least 8 weeks and up to 12 weeks. This program is a global affairs training and leadership development program that provides an expansive platform for selected leaders to deepen their fluency and exposure to global affairs and policy.
